Few months ago Mercedes-AMG refreshed its GT fourdoor coupé. Only the GT 43 and GT 53 models were presented at that time (including a Special Edition for the GT 53). Despite the rumors of ’73 AMG’ naming coming back, the electrified AMG GT is named “GT 63 S”. It is the first AMG with E Performance technology which is different from the EQ Power technology that is already available for the GLE and GLS 63 AMG. The 4,0 litre V8 biturbo engine in combination with and electric motor generates a system output of not less than 843 hp and a maximum system torque of more than 1,400 Nm.

Some highlights of the new GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE:

  • Electric range of 12 km
  • Standard AMG ceramic high-performance composite brakes
  • M177 V8 engine: 639 hp + electric motor (positioned at rear axle) of 204 hp
  • P3 hybrid lay-out: electric motor on the rear axle, integrated with an electrically shifted two-speed gearbox and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential
  • Battery capacity of 6.1 kWh (70 kW of continuous output and 150 kW peak output for 10 seconds)
  • Only AC charging possible (3,7 kW)
  • Direct cooling of the battery (14 litres): high-tech coolant based on an electrically non-conductive liquid flows around all 560 battery cells
  • Seven AMG DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes: “Electric”, “Comfort”, “Sport”, “Sport+”, “RACE”, “Slippery” and “Individual”
  • Electric driving is possible up to 130 km/h
