The current generation of the Mercedes E-Class is the perfect example of ‘simple’ but sexy design. The intensive facelift will not change to much on that. Some weeks ago AMG unveiled the E 53, and now there’s the E 63 and 63 S. It looks like AMG wants to end the horsepower battle as the engines remain the same in terms of performance. It remains to wait on the EQ Power technology to be introduced in the ’63 AMG range. The new front is very similar to the E 53 which means a trained eye is required to spot the differences. At the back, the differences are better defined with the quare pipes. All versions come with the permanent all-wheel drive system 4MATIC+ system with variable torque distribution and with drift mode for the S version. Transmission of the power is still happening with the 9G multi clutch transmission.
In essence the main changes versus the pre facelift are the design, the new MBUX, the new AMG Performance steering wheel and an updated widescreen cockpit.
