The mercedes GLE 53 AMG 4MATIC+ is the first AMG variant of the new W167 generation of the GLE. Later this year the GLE 63 AMG will follow, but in Geneva Mercedes will introduce this GLE 53 AMG. The engine we already know from the E and CLS family. It’s the 3 litre six-cylinder in-line with 435 hp and supported by 22 hp from the starter-alternator. The engine is combined with a 9-speed automatic TCT transmission (TCT = Torque-Clutch Transmission) and AMG Active Ride Control air suspension with electromechanical roll stabilisation. Visually the GLE 53 can be recognised by the specific AMG grill with 15 vertical elements which earlier we only saw on the 63 models.

With an average fuel consumption according to the WLTP norm of 9,3 litre per 100 km no new norms are set. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h happens in 5,3 seconds and the speed only stops at 250 km/h. The CO2 emission amounts 212 g/km.The GLE 53 4MATIC+ has seven driving modes: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Individual, Trail and Sand. The last two modes are focused on offroad circumstances.

The GLE 53 AMG will be first presented at the Geneva Motor Show.
