At the Brussels Motor Show earlier this year (when nobody knew Corona yet) AMG In Years could already discover the brand new GLA 35 AMG. Recently AMG in years unveiled the ‘real’ AMG variant of the GLA: GLA 45 and GLA 45 S, both with the new M139 engine and both with 4MATIC+ (fully variable all-wheel drive with AMG torque control). The 2 litre AMG ‘one-man one-engine’ delivers 387 hp in the 45 and 421 hp for the 45 S. Both models can count on the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G dual clutch transmission. Fuel consumption is around 9,2 litre per 100 km for both models and the CO2 emissions amounts 210 g/km. Performance of this pocket rocket is impressive. The GLA 45 S sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4,3 seconds, and the speed mark ends only at 270 km/h.

There’s a new rear differential to assure excellent levels of grip. Each rear wheel has now a multi-disc clutch. The 500 Nm available torque (between 5.000 and 5.250 rpm) is smoothly transferred to the four wheels thanks to the automatic 8 speed clutch and the 4MATIC+ system with AMG torque control. The new M139 engine is built in Affalterbach and striking fact is that the twin-scrol turbo can rotate up to 169.000 rpm. Also new is the two-stage fuel injection where the second injection is performed via solenoid valves in order to optimise performance. Fuel is supplied at a pressure of 6.7 bar and the combustion in the combustion chambers happens at 200 bar. The GLA 45 and 45 S are ready to be ordered at your local Mercedes dealership.
