In April earlier this year Mercedes-AMG announced the facelifted version of the 222 generation S-Class limousine. This included an updated S 63 AMG 4MATIC+ and S 65 AMG with respectively the 4 liter V8 and 6 liter V12, both biturbo. So no surprise that the S coupé and convertible now change their M157 5,5 liter V8 for the M177 4 liter V8 with 612 hp which we also know from the recent E 63 S AMG 4MATIC+. Also in the S AMG cylinder deactivation system is active between 1.000 to 3.250 rpm and helps reducing fuel consumption. Likewise the S AMG saloon, the 63 AMG is linked with the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G, the 65 AMG with the SPEEDSHIFT TCT 7G transmission. AMG RIDE CONTROL+ on both engine versions offer the choice to the driver to change the damping characteristics of the suspension (Comfort, Sport and Sport+). AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL is only available on the 65 AMG version and limits bodyroll. It also brings extra comfort thanks to the continous adaptation of the dampers controlled by scanners that scan the road permanently.

Striking on the facelifted versions is the Panamerica radiator grille which gives a very striking look. AMG is also introducing 4MATIC+ on the S 63 versions, however not on the V12 powered S 65 AMG (630 hp and 1.000 Nm torque). In contrast with the pré-facelift, the facelifted S 63 only comes with fourwheeldrive for the left-hand drive version, but without fourwheeldrive for the right-hand drive versions. New on the Coupé and Convertible are the OLED rear lights with organic light-emitting diode technology. The OLEDs make it possible to create curved surfaces and facilitate more visual effects. Changes in the interior are limited to a new steering wheel, new colors and materials here and there.

At market launch a Yellow Night Edition will be  available for a six months period on the S 63 AMG 4MATIC+ C217 (LHD) and S 63 AMG C217 (RHD). Two paints are available for this Yellow Night Edition: grey magno or night black magno. Other visual differentiators: yellow trim strip on the exterior mirror housings, yellow-painted brake callipers, an enlarged front splitter in high-gloss black, a spoiler lip in high-gloss black and AMG racing stripes on the vehicle flanks.
