The G-Class is handmade in the factory of Magna Steyr in Graz and that explains part of the expensive price tag of the G-Class. Despite the high price of the G-Wagon, it is more popular than ever. This year is the first time that more than 20.000 G Wagons will be produced in the factory in Austria where it has been built since 1979. The milestone piece of the G-Class was a white/black dual tone painted G 63 AMG. Daimler explains the succes of the G-Class thanks to the individualisation and continuous technical optimisation.

Magna Steyr has a good relationship with Mercedes-Benz and this resulted in the development of the 4Matic drivetrain and the vario roof of the Mercedes SLK. Even the painted aluminium body of the SLS AMG was handcrafted by Magna Steyr. Since the introduction of the G-Class back in 1979, more than 250.000 units were produced. Besides, the G Wagon will get a major update next year including a 10 centimeter increased width.
