The G-Class is alive more than ever. The AMG variant takes a considerable part of the sales and the history of the G-Class AMG goes back to 1993 with the 500 GE with a AMG modified 6 liter V8 delivering 300 hp. The G 36 AMG followed a year later and had a 3,6 liter 6 cilinder with 272 hp and in 1997 the G 43 AMG followed. Even more interesting is the G 63 AMG that was introduced in limited production in 2002 with the famous M137 6,3 l V12 good for an output of 444 hp. This engine also found its way to the evenly exclusive S 63 AMG V220 and the CL 63 AMG C215. From 2004 till 2011 the G-Class was available as G 55 with the 5,4 l kompressor V8 and since 2012 the G comes as G 63 AMG, first with 544 hp and later as 571 hp variant. Furthermore, since 2012, the G-Class is again available with V12 engine but this time with the M279 6 liter V12 which currently produces a dazzling 630 hp!
